King Johns castle
King John’s Castle stands dramatically in the heart of medieval Limerick City & is one of the most exciting buildings architecturally within the city.
Reopened in June 2013 this preserved medieval structure now boasts a new visitor centre with state of the art interpretive activities and exhibitions, travel back through time with computer generated animations and ghostly projections.
Discover scenes from a seventeenth century siege in their busy courtyard and enjoy the spectacular views of the river Shannon as you climb its mighty walls.
Exhibits in the castle today attempt to show what life was like during medieval times and is an excellent day out for all historic enthusiasts’ young and old alike.
